Adult Learning

Thank you for joining the millions of Girl Scout volunteers nationwide who are building girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.

In order to become a Girl Scout Leader/Volunteer, Girl Scouts require GS101 and Volunteer Essentials be completed online to ensure that girls receive the best possible program.  Check out the 2012/2013 GSCCC Troop Pathway Adult Learning Progression Chart.

After you have read the Quick-Start Guide of Volunteer Essentials please complete a short survey—after submitting this survey you have completed the Volunteer Essentials requirement.  Please continue to use Volunteer Essentials as a resource to help answer most of you questions.

After completing GS101 and Volunteer Essentials, new volunteers who choose to become part of a Troop Pathway may meet with their troops as long as their volunteer application and background check has been processed and they have met with their Service Unit (local group that supports Leaders) for an Introduction Meeting.
In addition to the above required Adult Learning courses, there are options below:

3. Face to Face Courses (optional)
If you would rather have a personal Face-to-Face Adult Learning Experience, please view the courses offered on the Event Calendar.

4. Beyond Meeting Courses (optional)
All About Journey Courses - Available as a face to face course
Level 1 First Aid and CPR available as a face to face course
Stepping Out Training available as a home-study course or as a face to face course
Beginning Troop Camping available as a face to face course
Advanced Outdoor Skills available as a face to face course
Event Planning available as a face to face course
Leaderama available only as a face to face course in each hub

5. HOME-STUDY Courses (optional)
Are you interested in taking training but find that none of the in-person workshops fit your schedule? Then Home Study program is for you. It is really simple!! Click on the training you would like to take, and follow the step-by-step directions. Download the Home Study Program as well as any materials posted for that training.  Homestudy Tests should be returned to and scored by Service Units, and the records of who has completed these trainings will be given to council annually.
