This is the second of a series of outdoor cooking courses for Girl Scout
adult volunteers. A box oven is as magical as it sounds. Simply, a
cardboard box covered in aluminum foil and heated with coals to bake
just about anything. At this workshop participants will construct a box
oven to take home and then learn how to successfully use it to bake in.
The course will include hands-on experience preparing a breakfast
entree, muffins, and dinner entree. In addition, coal safety, kitchen
set-up and sanitation will be reviewed.
Cost of the course is $30 and will include supplies to make a box
oven, food and take-home recipes. Participants will be responsible to
source and bring their own cardboard box and cooking rack.
