Join your fellow Junior Girl Scouts in learning all about the amazing bee; how they communicate, what they eat, how they find flowers, how they build their hives and make their honey. Find out about the fact and fiction surrounding bees.
The Beekeepers Guild of Santa Barbara will teach Girl Scouts all about bees and the amazing things they do. Girls will get to see bees in action in a very special observation hive, learn how they communi-cate, what flowers they like best, and how we can help the bees.
Juniors will be earning their Legacy Naturalist: Flowers badge by learning about the connection between bees and flowers They will learn how bees find flowers and what flowers are best for the bees in our area. They will also get to plant some bee-friendly flowers. Girls will also be able to try honey made from different flowers in order to test the flavor.
Troop leader or adult chaperone is required to have all traveling forms for each participating girl. (Annual Permission Form, Health History, Permission for Medication, Permission to Release) Forms can be downloaded from the council website. Review specific event requirements in Safety Activity Checkpoints before taking any trip. All drivers should be registered Girl Scout Members, have completed a volunteer application and background check, have a valid CA driver’s license and hold current vehicle insurance.
