The American Red Cross will be hosting the Girl Scouts of California's Central Coast to participate in the Pillowcase Project, a program designed to educate children about the science of hazards, hazard safety, and emergency preparedness. This program provides children with learning materials and a Disney sponsored pillowcase which is designed to be used as the child's emergency kit. Attendees will learn about what they would put in their personal emergency kit and learn about how their household can build their preparedness. In addition the American Red Cross will be teaching "Citizen CPR" (a hands only approach to cardiac arrest).
Program will be indoors. Please wear comfortable layered clothing, and closed toe shoes.
Refillable water bottle and snacks.
No tagalongs. No pets. This is not a drop off program.
Troop leader or adult chaperone is required to have all traveling forms for each participating girl. (Annual Permission Form, Health History, Permission for Medication, Permission to Release) Forms can be downloaded from the council website here. Revew specific event requirements in Safety Activity Checkpoints before taking any trip. All drivers should be registered Girl Scout Members, have completed a volunteer application and background check, have a valid CA driver’s license and hold current vehicle insurance.
