Join fellow Girl Scouts on an interactive, learning adventure at the Monarch Butterfly Grove. Visit one of the largest monarch colonies in the nation. Over 25,000 butterflies make this grove their home during their annual migration. Girls will learn about butterfly eating habits, life cycle, migration patterns and plant pollinator-friendly seeds to take home. Girls may join in a walk to the beach after to learn more about coastal habitats.
Optional~ Any girls who would like to, can come early and help the docents do the morning monarch count. IF girls are interested in this, please arrive at 7:00 am. Official program begins at 8:00 am.
Troop leader or adult chaperone is required to have all travelingforms for each participating girl. (Annual Permission Form, Health History, Permission for Medication, Permission to Release) Forms can be downloaded from the council website here. Review specific event requirements in Safety Activity Checkpoints before taking any trip. All drivers should be registered Girl Scout Members, have completed a volunteer application and background check, have a valid CA driver’s license and hold current vehicle insurance.
