Take the first step in your wilderness adventure! Our progression safely takes girls and adults out of the campground and into the woods.

First in the outdoor progression, this one-day training teaches adults and girls the essential skills and knowledge necessary for exciting wilderness exploration. Our emphasis includes safety, proper gear and equipment, the Leave No Trace ethic, building independence in girls, and laying a strong foundation for more extraordinary adventures, such as backpacking. Training includes classroom instruction and group day hike.

Camp Arnaz has a strict closed-toe shoe policy!

Troop leader or adult chaperone is required to have all traveling forms for each participating girl. (Annual Permission Form, Health History, Permission for Medication, Permission to Release) Forms can be downloaded from the council website www.girlscoutsccc.org/forms  Review specific event requirements in Safety Activity Checkpoints before taking any trip.
