Jose Hernandez was born into a family of migrant farm workers. He worked alongside them while growing up in California. He excelled in STEM education while in grade school. He went on to complete his college education, earning both a Bachelors and a Masters Degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering.
Here is a quick glance at his amazing career:
- - He and a colleague were the first developers of the
first full-field digital mammography imaging system system—which
aids in the early detection of breast cancer.
- - He
established a career with NASA and became an astronaut!
- - He ran for public office
Please be aware this presentation will be given entirely in Spanish and then translated to English and Mixteco.
*This is a free, first come, first serve event. There is a maximum capacity of 750 people within the Mello Center. There will be limited childcare available.

Troop leader or adult chaperone is required to have all traveling forms for each participating girl (Annual Permission Form, Health History, Permission for Medication, Permission to Release). Forms can be downloaded from the council website www.girlscoutsccc.org/forms Review specific event requirements in Safety Activity Checkpoints before taking any trip. All drivers should be registered Girl Scout Members, have completed a volunteer application and background check, have a valid CA driver’s license and hold current vehicle insurance.
