What’s New This Year with Volunteer Essentials
Well, plenty is new… more than we anticipated, in fact. This was a major revision, and we hope future versions will include fewer changes.
• The most obvious difference is in the style, which now matches the upcoming brand campaign’s clean look and green/black/white color scheme.
• We’ve put what was the Troop Module into the document itself (now called an appendix), so that councils have one document to work with, instead of several. You’ll also find that this troop appendix is far shorter than last year.
• We’ve added an appendix for travel volunteers.
• We’ve added a Quick-Start Guide that’s meant for volunteers to read immediately, while the rest of the document is for their reference, in the future.
• We’ve eliminated some chapters and made numerous nips and tucks throughout.
After you have read the Quick-Start Guide of Volunteer Essentials please click here to complete a short survey—after completing this survey you have completed the Volunteer Essentials requirement, but please continue to use Volunteer Essentials as a resource to help answer most of you questions.
After completing the Volunteers, new volunteers who choose to become part of a Troop Pathway leadership team may meet with their troops as long as their volunteer application (including background check) has been processed and they have met with their Service Unit to do an Face to Face Introduction Meeting.
