girl’s guide + GSLE WebPage Header

The Girl Scout Leadership Experience engages girls in discovering themselves, connecting with others and taking action to make the world a better place. Even at the youngest ages of Girl Scouting, girls can gain leadership skills they will carry with them throughout their lives. The Girl Scout focus on leadership shows girls that they are leaders right now in their everyday lives, and they will continue to be leaders as they get older.

Discover: Girls understand themselves and their values and use their knowledge and skills to explore the world.
Connect: Girls care about, inspire, and team with others locally and globally.
Take Action: Girls act to make the world a better place.

For more information about the benefits of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience, check out the resources provided by Girl Scouts of the USA: GSLE.

The Girl’s Guide to GIRL SCOUTING are available now in council shops to complete the national program portfolio.

There’s great news for girls!  Just in time for Girl Scouts 100th Anniversary, the new age-level Girl’s Guide to GIRL SCOUTING will provide variety, choice and relevance to deliver the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.

HOW THE NATIONAL GIRL SCOUT PROGRAM PORTFOLIO WORKS

Chose a Journey which uses the three keys to leadership:  DISCOVER, CONNECT, TAKE ACTION, and add The Girl’s Guide to GIRL SCOUTING (GGGS). Plus, girls can add Skill-Building Badges to enjoy along with their Journeys!

The GGGS will offer new opportunties with: My Promise, My Faith Pin, and the Journey Summit Pin.  There are also designated levels for PA, CIT, VIT and Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards.

There will be a GGGS for each of the six grade levels - Daisy through Ambassador. Although described as a book for girls, this book also serves as the leader resource as well, so leaders will want their own copy.

The GGGS will have three main sections:
-Girl Scout Traditions
-Cookie Sale Program Activities
-Earned Awards (badges, religious awards, Bronze, Silver, Gold)

Each girl will want her own copy since the GGGS will include:
-Girl Scout History
-Girl Scout Traditions
-What’s special about being a Girl Scout
-List of Emblems and Awards (i.e. membership stars, GSUSA strip, council strip, etc.)
-Awards Log
-Diagram of Sash/Vest with Badge Placement
-Bridging Award Requirements
-Bronze, Silver, Gold Award Requirements
-Additional Program Information for each level such as PA., CIT, or VIT
-Journey Map
-Map showing all the councils and special Girl Scout places (i.e., the Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace, World Centers, etc.)

Stay-tuned for more GGGS information, FAQs, and trainings scheduled for release over the summer.

NEW TO GIRL SCOUTING?

Who Do You Want to Be?
Want to be an adventurer, scientist, financial manager, athlete, environmentalist, or CEO? From sports skill-building clinics to career mentoring, world travel and cultural exchanges to local community service projects, environmental stewardships to financial literacy, the Girl Scout program enables you to be who you want to be.

What do Girl Scouts do?
Girl Scouts are girls just like you who have fun, make friends and discover new places! Girl Scouts go camping, visit museums, care for the environment, sell cookies, help people in the community, and participate in exciting events.  Girl Scouting gives girls like you the chance to explore your world and have a lot of fun at the same time!

Girl Scouts are divided into: Girl Scout Daisy (grades K-1), Girl Scout Brownie (grades 2-3), Girl Scout Junior (grades 4-5), Girl Scout Cadette (grades 6-8), Girl Scout Seniors (grades 9-10), and Girl Scout Ambassadors (grades 11-12).

Every girl who registers as a Girl Scout can enjoy the many activities organized by her council, and her troop.  Girl Scouts of California’s Central Coast offers activities that meet the needs and interests of girls. Some program activities are shared by all Girl Scouts; others may only be available locally, and require girls to apply, or are restricted by age-level.

No matter what age, girls learn the value and the fun of sharing experiences in an all-girl environment, with caring, trained adults to serve as mentors and models. All activities are designed with girls in mind to spark their interests, address their concerns, build their skills, and explore the world around them.
