Surfs up! Come join the Girl Scout Surf Day put on by the awesome lifeguard certified surf instructors with Surf Happens! Girls will be divided into groups depending on age and will participate in a variety of fun activities  including surf instruction as well as a beach clean up and educational activities that will teach girls about beach ecology and social responsibility.

All equipment will be provided including wetsuits.

Surf instruction is provided by experienced Surf Instructors. Surf Happens! Has 18 years of experience working with youth and have taught over 15,000 children to surf. Regardless of ocean or swimming background girls will have a safe and rewarding experience and everyone will stand up! Instructors have extensive experience and training in: surf and ocean rescue, beach safety, First Aid, and CPR. The instructors also have teaching experience with children. Safety, education and having fun are the primary objectives.

Minimum of 4 paid instructors and several volunteer assistants at all times during the program. With a ratio of 1 to 5 in the water and 1 to 2 for surf instruction for beginner surfers.

All girls must  complete Surf Happens! Waiver in order to participate in this program.

 

Troop leader or adult chaperone is required to have all traveling forms for each participating girl. (Annual Permission Form, Health History, Permission for Medication, Permission to Release) Forms can be downloaded from the council website here. Review specific event requirements in Safety Activity Checkpoints before taking any trip. All drivers should be registered Girl Scout Members, have completed a volunteer application and background check, have a valid CA driver’s license and hold current vehicle insurance.
