Attend C.A.R.E. and earn the Conservation Adaptations Rescue Environment feather to compliment your primary patch and W.O.W. feather!

Meet avian ambassadors. Girls will delve deeper into endangered species, physical adaptations, and how to promote natural habitat conservation. Girls will learn about parrot rescue, rehabilitation, and care at home and in the wild.

Gain an appreciation for parrots and the wonder of the avian world while building a connection to the Santa Barbara Bird Sanctuary; which can provide future service and educational opportunities.

Girls will examine the social-emotional, cognitive, physical, and dietary needs of parrots.

Girls will evelop an awareness of the plight of parrots in the wild, explore conservation, and care  strategies.

Hands on Experience: Girls will learn all about handling parrots and the extensive care they require. Girls will also learn how to take action and be introduced to parrot conservation!

Troop leader or adult chaperone is required to have all traveling forms for each participating girl. (Annual Permission Form, Health History, Permission for Medication, Permission to Release) Forms can be downloaded from the council website here. Review specific event requirements in Safety Activity Checkpoints before taking any trip. All drivers should be registered Girl Scout Members, have  completed a volunteer application and background check, have a valid CA driver’s license and hold current vehicle insurance.
